Scanning Questionnaires


After questionnaires are completed and collected they can be scanned to transfer the options selected as data into the appropriate questionnaire file (see How OMR Scanning Works).

To scan questionnaires
  • Ensure the correct RSQ file is open (see Opening Existing Questionnaires).
  • Ensure the questionnaire is live, it will be if it was overprinted, if it was preprinted however it may still be draft (see Saving Questionnaires).
  • Ensure the scanner is configured correctly.
  • Ensure the port is configured correctly.
  • On the toolbar left click , or alternatively from the Process menu select Scan.
  • The Scan Batch dialog will be displayed, fill in appropriately (see Using Batches During Scanning) and click the Continue button.
  • The scanning dialog should appear.


  • When all the questionnaires intended for current batch are scanned click the Done button.

    During scanning there are a number of reasons why given questionnaires may cause the process to halt (see Halts in Scanning).
