Editing Response Details

For any text area on a response sheet to be used as a question it must have a number of response areas associated with it. Each response area can be assigned properties which identify which question option it represents. Assigning response areas to these properties is done by editing the responses.

To edit responses for a question associated with a given text area
  • On the question editing interface select the text area associated with the question to have response details edited.
  • Right click the selected text area and select the popup menu option Responses or alternatively from the Text menu select Responses.
  • Make the appropriate selections in the Edit Responses dialog.

  • The text in the question edit interface Responses column will identify where responses have been set up by displaying an array of characters selected to identify each option separated by commas.

Each response to be used as an option must have a Char (uniquely identifying character), a Response Text and a Code. They can each be optionally allocated a Score although either none or all those in use must have one. These can be typed directly into the appropriate columns (see Editing Individual Response Options).

If options have associated text areas
  • The text to be overprinted in those areas can be selected in the Identifier to Overprint radio box.
  • The font of the text to be overprinted can be selected via the Font button.
  • The justification of the text to be overprinted can be selected via the Justification drop down.

If some of the available options are unused the response areas they are associated with can be greyed out by ticking the Block Out Unused Responses check box.

If the options are a many of many style this can be selected in the Allowed Response Selection radio box.

Data collected from any given question which is considered critical can be identified by ticking the Critical Data check box.

Every time a new questionnaire is created the response details are set up with default values which can be changed in the via application defaults dialog.

Further design concerning grouping options for reporting purposes can be accessed via the Advanced button.
