Setting Text Reporting Details

The standard pie chart and bar chart report produce one chart per question (unless the question is inhibited from being reported on).

Using the text reporting details enables a user to force page or column throws (so the next chart is placed at the start of the next column or page) between questions, or to insert text (for use as headings or comments) between questions.

To set text reporting details for a question associated with a given text area
  • On the question editing interface select the text area associated with the question to have  reporting details set.
  • Right click the selected text area and select the popup menu option Reporting Details or alternatively from the Text menu select Reporting Details.
  • Make the appropriate selections in the Report Details dialog.

  • The text in the question edit interface Rep. Details column will identify a question with a forced break or inserted text with Break and Text respectively.

To force a break prior to a question
  • Tick the New Pre-question Break check box.
  • Select Column or Page in the Pre-question Break radio box.
  • Select the appropriate option in the Pre-question Break Usage radio box.
  • The Only if this question is printed option means a break will only occur if this question appears in the report.
  • The If any following question is printed option means a break will occur if this question or any following question up to the next question with a forced break appears in the report.

To insert a text prior to a question
  • Tick the New Pre-question Text check box.
  • Fill in the text to appear in the edit box.
  • Tick the Embolden, Italicise and Underline check boxes as appropriate. The font used for the text inserted between questions is the same as that used for the questions so use these to differentiate.
  • Select the appropriate option in the Pre-question Text Usage radio box.
  • The Only if this question is printed option means the text will only be printed if this question appears in the report.
  • The If any following question is printed option means the text will only be printed if this question or any following question up to the next question with a inserted text appears in the report.
