An Introduction to Speedquest

Speedquest is an application designed to collect filled in responses from questionnaires and store the results in data files.

Each questionnaire collected is stored as an individual data record in the file.

The normal questionnaire is a single sheet of paper (also referred to as a response sheet) with a number of questions each of which has a number of associated options (a filled in option is referred to as a response).

Speedquest recognises two styles of question, numeric and multiple choice, and two styles of questionnaire, preprinted and overprinted.

Speedquest has been designed to interface with Optical Mark Readers which can scan appropriately designed and filled in response sheets allowing a very rapid transfer of data from the sheets to a computer data file.

The following steps are all that is needed to create and use a basic questionnaire.
  • Generate a new questionnaire (see Creating  Questionnaires and Saving Questionnaires).
  • Design the questionnaire (see Viewing Questionnaire Details and Printing a Questionnaire Grid).
  • Modify the questionnaire (see Modifying Questionnaires and Printing a Draft Questionnaire).
  • Overprint questionnaires if appropriate (see Overprinting Questionnaires).
  • Scan completed questionnaires (see Scanning Questionnaires).
  • Inspecting and querying data collected from scanned questionnaires (see Viewing Scanned Data).
  • Producing reports and exporting data (see Reporting and Exporting Data).
