Database Files

The Question Bank database consists of the following files

Administration files, stored in the Default Database Folder

  admin.db, admin.px    User details
  banks.db, banks.mb, banks.px   Bank details
  exams.db, exams.mb, exams.px   Examination details

If the default database folder is changed, then the admin.db and admin.px files must be present in that folder before the question bank can be run. If the bank and examination files are not present, they will be created.

Bank Question Files

The question files for an individual bank are stored in the folder specified in the bank description (see Change a Question Banks Descriptive Details. The number and names of the files created depend on the type of question stored in the bank. If the file name specified in the bank description is 'xxxx', then all files starting with 'xxxx' are files related to that bank.

Examination Files

The files for an individual examination are stored in the folder specified in the examination description (see Edit Existing Examination Structure. If the examination number is 'n', then all files associated with that examination start with the name 'nexamqn'.

Configuration Files

The Question Bank is a multi-user system, and is designed so that all data files may be stored on a network server. The system configuration is stored in the file 'gpqb.def', in the default database folder. An individual user's configuration is stored in the Windows registry on that user's local computer.
