Database Maintenance


It is possible that the software has closed down incorrectly, for example following a power failure or system error, leaving the database unusable in some way.

To correct these problems select Database Maintenance from the Tools menu.
  • It is important that there is no-one else using the software when you do this.
     


    Logout All Users
    Certain functions can only be performed if no-one else is using the database. To log all other users out, select this option.

    Remove Question Locks
    When a user is editing a question, it is locked to prevent other users from changing it. To remove any unwanted locks, select this option.

    Remove Deleted Questions
    To remove any deleted questions, select this option.

    Pack Tables
    If the database cannot be opened due to a corrupted or out of date index, then choose this option. Packing the database tables may take several minutes, particularly for a large database.
