Importing Questions

Questions can be imported from Speedwell's previous question banking software, Itembank for WindowsItembankForWindows. Single Correct Answer and Multiple True/False banks stored in this older software can be imported directly into the General Purpose Question Bank.}

To import questions

1. Click  
  • or select  Import Questions from the Tools menu.
     


    2. Choose whether to import questions from Microsoft Word or a QTI file

    3. Click OK.
  • Word Imports
     Choose the folder where the Word file (doc) is located. Click on the file to select and click OK.
  • QTI Imports
     Choose the folder where the QTI (zip) is located.  Click on the file to select and click OK.

    This process could take several minutes depending on the size of the banks.

    If while importing categories, the parent of a category can not be found, then that category is not imported, and an error report is produced. If while importing questions, a question's category can not be found, then that question is still imported, but into the root category, again an error report is produced. This error report can be viewed on screen, and is contained in the file 'import.txt' in the default database folder.
