When Things Go Wrong
Firstly check to see if the scanner is getting power (i.e. it will switch on). If not check your power supply and power connections. If there are no problems with either you will need to contact an engineer for servicing.
If the scanner is getting power but is unable to scan anything at all you have problems with your communications or configuration.
1. Check that the serial port connection, at the back of your computer, is in place and coordinates with the port configuration in your software.
2. Check that communications lead is in the Main socket. Click here to see connections in place
3. Open your Speedwell software and check the correct scanner is selected in the scanner configuration.
Try to scan now.
Still experiencing problems? Sometimes if scanners are left unused for long periods of time the configuration settings are lost. In this case the scanner needs to be calibrated and configured as it was when it was set up.
Close down any Speedwell software you have running and follow the instructions from Step 4 to Step 6 in the Scanner Setup section to resolve this problem.
If after completing these steps you are still unable to scan contact Speedwell for support.
