Step 2 - Plug in the communication lead from the scanner to the computer
In order for the scanner to communicate with your computer a lead is needed to connect them.
The grey lead that you are provided with has a port type connector at one end which goes into the serial port connector at the back of your computer
this should be com port 1 if at all possible - if another port is used you will need to configure the software to recognise this.
At the other end of the lead is a phone type connection which slots into the Main port at the back of the scanner.

The picture below shows the communication lead in place.
Please note - the extra phone type connector that is attached to this lead is only for loop testing the scanner and should not be used.
