Frequently Asked Questions

How can I increase the chances of Keypoint successfully recognising my scanned answers?

Here are some hints on how to increase the chances of answers being successfully recognised.

  • Check that the Scan, Options dialog has "More accurate page positioning" ticked and the Text type is set to "Hand printed"
  • Keypoint "finds" questions/tables by trying to find the top left corner, which is usually the question/table number/text. If the text and background colours are similar then it may have problems "finding" them. Try using colours that contrast more, use a white background or try increasing the contrast level when scanning
  • The survey must be printed at 100%, not scaled to fit, on the paper size choosen in Keypoint's Page Setup.

When I try inputting my scanned survey responses I keep getting the following error message "There are no objects for recognition on this page: text, table or barcode blocks."

This message is displayed when scanning a double sided survey with an odd number of pages. The solution is to add a blank page to the Keypoint survey so it has an even number of pages, then rescan the surveys.

When I try inputting some scanned responses none of them are recognised and there are no new responses added.

This can happen when you have more than one design form. When scanning and inputting responses the appropriate design form must be selected in Responses.

When scanning my survey I get the following warning 'Invalid layout passed as the argument. Some blocks are outside the image', what should I do?

This warning is displayed when a question or table of questions goes off the page, eg a large question table overlapping 2 pages. Questions and tables of questions must be changed to make sure they fit within the margins of the page and they do no overlap pages. It is recommended that questions/tables are not to close to the edge of the page.
