Scanning Problems
During scanning one of the following sheet errors may be reported:

Incorrect Sheet Fed

This error occurs when a sheet of an unexpected type is read, that is the wrong sheet for this particular application. Check that you are feeding the correct type of sheet.  If you are sure that the sheet is of the right type, check that it has been fed in the right way round with the clock track near the front of the scanner, or that there are no extraneous black marks in the area of the clock track.

Document No. Expected

The document code is used to differentiate between different types of sheet.  Check that you have fed the correct type of sheet.

Skew Error

The sheet has not been fed straight, feed it again. If the sheet still gives skew errors, check that the corners of the sheet have not been damaged.

Black Test Error

The software checks that the scanner reads black marks on fixed places on the form, to check for the correct operation of the scanner. This is called the 'black test'. If this test fails, check that the sheet is not damaged. If the sheet is in good condition, it may be that the scanner needs recalibrating. See the scanner documentation for details on how to do this.

White Test Error

The software checks that the scanner reads no marks on fixed places on the form, to check for the correct operation of the scanner. This is called the 'white test'.  If this test fails, check that the sheet is not damaged, and that there are no extraneous marks in the dashed lines along the top and bottom of the form. If the sheet is in good condition, it may be that the scanner needs recalibrating. See the scanner documentation for details on how to do this.

Invalid Front Overprint Alignment

This error occurs when the front of your sheet has not been overprinted accurately.  The sheets will need to be re-overprinted.

Invalid Rear Overprint Alignment

This error occurs when the rear of your sheet has not been overprinted accurately.  The sheets will need to be re-overprinted.

Invalid Front Check Sum

This is caused by incorrect marking on the ID line, or marks being read from the ID line that should not be there.  To resolve this problem check that the ID line on the front of your sheet is free from marks.

Invalid Rear Check Sum

This is caused by incorrect marking on the ID line, or marks being read from the ID line that should not be there.  To resolve this problem check that the ID line on the rear of your sheet is free from marks.

Incorrect Rear Installation Number

During installation of SpeedQuest you are asked for an installation number which you define yourself.  This installation number is overprinted onto a questionnaire because part of the verification procedure is to check that the information read by the scanner matches with the questionnaire file you are currently working with. If an incorrect installation number is detected it means that you are scanning the questionnaires with a different installation to the one that overprinted them, scanning will halt to alert you of this. To turn off this feature see Scanning Options

Incorrect Front Questionnaire Number

During saving in SpeedQuest you are asked for a questionnaire number, which is specified by the user.  This questionnaire number is then overprinted onto each questionnaire because part of the verification procedure is to check that the information read by the scanner matches with the questionnaire file you are currently working with.  If an incorrect questionnaire number is detected it means that you are scanning the questionnaires with a different user specified questionnaire number to the one that overprinted them, scanning will halt to alert you of this. Duplicate Sheet Number

An duplicate sheet number has been detected, scanning will halt to alert you of this. To turn off this feature see Scanning Options

Unexpected Sheet Number

An incorrect sheet number has been detected, scanning will halt to alert you of this. To turn off this feature see Scanning Options

Unexpected Pre-printed Document Code

Some pre-printed forms have a document code on them.  If a questionnaire is scanned that is not expecting a document code you will receive this error.  You will also receive this error if a pre-printed document code has been printed but not recognised by the scanner.
